HIV-associated nephropathy (HIVAN) refers to kidney disease developing in association with HIV infection. The most common or classical type of HIV-associated nephropathy is a collapsing focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) though other forms of kidney disease may also occur with HIV.
