HIP 70849 is a 10th magnitude K-type main sequence star located approximately 78 light years away in the constellation Lupus. This star which resembles a brighter red dwarf is smaller cooler dimmer and less massive than our Sun. In 2009 a gas giant planet very much like Jupiter was found in orbit around it.
