Pakistani Hindus are Hindus of full or partial Pakistani descent. The Hindus constitute 1.7% of Pakistan’s population.After Pakistan gained independence from Britain on 14 August 1947 approximately 6 million of the country’s minority Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India.[citation needed] Similarly nearly an equal number of Muslims left India to live in Pakistan.
