Hawaiian pizza is a type of pizza that always consists of a cheese and tomato base with toppings of ham and pineapple and or mushrooms. Hawaiian pizza does not actually originate from Hawaii. Although it has been conjectured that it derives from toast Hawaii a German sandwich it seems to have been invented in 1962 by Sam Panopoulos in Chatham Ontario Canada.It is the most popular pizza in Australia accounting for 15% of pizza sales.
