The Hamgyong Mountains (Gangbaekjeonggan) is a mountainous range running northeastward for 350 km in the northeastern part of North Korea. They extend parallel to the coast of the Sea of Japan (East Sea of Korea) with the northeastern terminus at the Tumen River valley. This is the highest range of mountains on the peninsula.
