Habla Congo is a Kongo-based ritual language of Cuba used in the Palo Monte religion. Palero speech involves code-switching between Kongo-derived words and phrases; Bozal Spanish the archaic Spanish creole of the Cuban slave plantations or at least an imitation of it; and colloquial Cuban Spanish. Palero priests say that they habla congo (or habla conga) speak Kongo habla en congo or habla palero.
