Gurjar or Gujjar is a pastoral ethnic group with populations in India Pakistan and a small number in northeastern Afghanistan. Alternative spellings include Gurjara Gojar Gūjar Gurjjara and Gūrjara. Although they are able to speak the lingua franca of the country they inhabit Gurjars have their own language known as Gujari. Religiously they are Hindus Muslims and Sikhs.Similar to other ethnic groups the origin of the Gurjars is shrouded in mystery.
