It was instituted in the 1980s in memory and honor of Swedish actress Gunn Wållgren one of the Swedish theatre’s finest stage actresses.It is given out annually on Wållgren’s birthday (November 16) to a young promising Swedish actress of the stage.The prize sum consists of 20000 Swedish Kronor (approximately USD 2950).
