In enzymology a guanidinobutyrase (EC 3.5.3.7) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction4-guanidinobutanoate + H2O 4-aminobutanoate + ureaThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 4-guanidinobutanoate and H2O whereas its two products are 4-aminobutanoate and urea.This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases those acting on carbon-nitrogen bonds other than peptide bonds specifically in linear amidines.
