Group of monuments at Mahabalipuram is a monument complex on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal in Kancheepuram district Tamil Nadu India. It is located near Chennai. With approximately 40 sanctuaries including the largest open-air bas-relief in the world Mahabalipuram gained UNESCO World Heritage site distinction in 1984.
