The Grande Prêmio Brasil is the main horse race in Brazil first held in 1933 at Hipódromo da Gávea. It is a flat race on a turf track disputed over a distance of 2400 meters (1 1/2 miles). Following new international agreements its qualification and date were changed for the 2014 race in order to allow the participation of this race in the Breeders’ Cup Challenge program giving to its winner an automatic berth into the Breeders’ Cup Turf.
