Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club is a Brooklyn–based volunteer organization dedicated to providing waterfront access and education. The club started in 1999. The club was created with the dream of cleaning the Gowanus Canal. The Dredgers conduct free canoe trips during the summer on their dock at Second Street near Bond Street and cleanups. The Dredgers also host a 2.5 mile race within the canal as a fundraiser.
