In enzymology a glycerol-2-phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.19) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionglycerol 2-phosphate + H2O glycerol + phosphateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are glycerol 2-phosphate and H2O whereas its two products are glycerol and phosphate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on phosphoric monoester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is glycerol-2-phosphate phosphohydrolase.
