Gerald McCarthy (born 12 September 1945) is an Irish retired hurler and manager who played as a midfielder for the Cork senior team.Regarded as one of the all-time great players for Cork McCarthy joined the team during the 1964-65 National League and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1979 championship. During that time he won five All-Ireland medals nine Munster medals three National League medals and one All-Star awards.
