George Cardell Briggs CMG OGS (6 September 1910 – 15 March 2004) was the first Bishop of The SeychellesBorn in Warrington Briggs was educated at Worksop College and Sidney Sussex College Cambridge. After studying at Ripon College Cuddesdon he was ordained in 1935. He was a curate of St Alban’s Stockport until 1937 when he became a missionary priest in the Diocese of Masabi Tanzania.
