Ge’ez /ˈɡiːɛz/ (ግዕዝ Gəʿəz [ɡɨʕɨz]; also transliterated Gi’iz and less precisely called Ethiopic) is an ancient South Semitic language that originated in Eritrea and the northern region of Ethiopia in the Horn of Africa.
