Growth Associated Protein 43 also known as GAP43 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GAP43 gene.GAP43 has been termed a ‘growth’ or ‘plasticity’ protein because it is expressed at high levels in neuronal growth cones during development during axonal regeneration and is phosphorylated after long-term potentiation (LTP) and after learning (reference needed).
