Gaile Owens was a prisoner at the Tennessee Prison for Women from 22 February 1985 to 7 October 2011. Owens’ husband Ronald Owens was murdered on 17 February 1985. Owens was found guilty of hiring Sidney Porterfield to murder her husband and was sentenced to death by electrocution.Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen commuted the sentence of Gaile Owens to life in prison in 2010.
