The Frigate Ecojet program is the development of a new wide-body medium haul civil aircraft using a new integral aerodynamic and design configuration. The project started in 1991 as Tu-304 under leadership of Valentin Klimov (then chief designer of Tupolev design bureau) and initially was projected to carry up to 500 passengers.
