Franche-Comté (French pronunciation: [fʁɑ̃ʃ kɔ̃te]; English: Free County Free Countian: Fraintche-Comtè; Arpitan: Franche-Comtât) the former Free County of Burgundy as distinct from the neighbouring Duchy is an administrative region and a traditional province of eastern France.
