The 2010 Florida gubernatorial election took place on November 2 2010. Republican-turned-independent incumbent Governor Charlie Crist chose not to run for a second term and instead ran for the Senate seat vacated by Mel Martinez. This resulted in an open race for Governor of Florida. Republican Rick Scott narrowly defeated Democrat Alex Sink in the general election.
