The European Human Rights Prize also known as the Council of Europe Human Rights Prize was a human rights prize awarded by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in recognition of outstanding contributions to the cause of human rights as enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights.It was instituted in 1980 when the Committee of Ministers adopted Resolution (80) 1 containing regulations on a European Human Rights Prize.The prize was last awarded in 1998.
