European Choice (Italian: Scelta Europea) is a pro-European and primarily liberal electoral list of political parties in Italy formed to contest the 2014 European election.In the first place the list was to be centred around the Civic Choice (SC) party and as such in early March 2014 it received support from Guy Verhofstadt former Prime Minister of Belgium and candidate of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party for President of the European Commission and the endorsement of Romano Prodi former Prime Minister of Italy former President of the European Commission and former president of the Democratic Party.Supporting parties included Democratic Centre Stop the Decline Alliance for Italy Liberal Democratic Alliance for Italy the Italian Liberal Party the Conservatives and Social Reformers the European Federalist Party and miscellaneous minor movements.Later on 19 March Democratic Centre Stop the Decline and other groups agreed to go forward with the creation of the list without Civic Choice whose members criticised the deal and Verhofstadt himself.
