The epiphysis (/ɛˈpɪfɨsɨs/) is the rounded end of a long bone at its joint with adjacent bone(s). Between the epiphysis and diaphysis (the long midsection of the long bone) lies the metaphysis including the epiphyseal plate (growth plate).
