The Dresden S-Bahn provides commuter train services in Dresden and the surrounding area. It was established in 1973 and comprises three lines. It connects many districts of Dresden as well as Meißen Radebeul Pirna and the Elbe Sandstone Mountains Dresden Airport Freital and Tharandt.The network is about 103 kilometers in length and has 38 stations (of which 16 are in Dresden).Normally trains consist of an electric locomotive and up to five bi-level cars.
