The dorsal raphe nucleus is located on the midline of the brainstem and is part of the raphe nucleus consisting of the rostral and caudal subdivisions. The rostral aspect of the dorsal raphe is further divided into interfascicular ventral ventrolateral and dorsal subnuclei.
