In enzymology a dimethylmaleate hydratase (EC 4.2.1.85) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction(2R3S)-23-dimethylmalate dimethylmaleate + H2OHence this enzyme has one substrate (2R3S)-23-dimethylmalate and two products dimethylmaleate and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the hydro-lyases which cleave carbon-oxygen bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is (2R3S)-23-dimethylmalate hydro-lyase (dimethylmaleate-forming).
