Richard John Howell (October 12 1903 – July 20 1967) was an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris France. He was born in Chicago and died in Arlington Heights Illinois.In the 1924 Olympics he won a gold medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay event. He helped the American relay team to qualify for the final where he was replaced by Johnny Weissmuller.
