The Rt Rev Harold Richard Dick Darby was the Suffragan Bishop of Sherwood from 1975 until 1989.He was born on 28 February 1919 and educated at Durham University. He was ordained in 1951 and began his ecclesiastical career with curacies in Leyton and Harlow. Following these he was Vicar of Shrub End Colchester and then Waltham Abbey before being appointed Rural Dean of Battle in 1970 a post he held until his ascension to the Episcopate five years later.
