In enzymology a diaminobutyrate decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.86) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionL-24-diaminobutanoate propane-13-diamine + CO2Hence this enzyme has one substrate L-24-diaminobutanoate and two products propane-13-diamine and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the carboxy-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is L-24-diaminobutanoate carboxy-lyase (propane-13-diamine-forming).
