In enzymology a dextrin dextranase (EC 2.4.1.2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction(14-alpha-D-glucosyl)n + (16-alpha-D-glucosyl)m (14-alpha-D-glucosyl)n-1 + (16-alpha-D-glucosyl)m+1Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are (14-alpha-D-glucosyl)n and (16-alpha-D-glucosyl)m whereas its two products are (14-alpha-D-glucosyl)n-1 and (16-alpha-D-glucosyl)m+1.This enzyme belongs to the family of glycosyltransferases specifically the hexosyltransferases.
