Derek Lyng (born 4 July 1978) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a midfielder for the Kilkenny senior team.Born in Urlingford County Kilkenny Lyng first excelled at hurling whilst at school in St. Kieran’s College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-two when he joined the Kilkenny senior team for the 2001 championship.
