The Department of Community Safety was established in March 2009. The department formed from a merger of the former Departments of Emergency Services and Corrective Services. It is headquartered at Kedron in Brisbane.It consists of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and Emergency Management Queensland. Jack Dempsey the Minister for Police and Community Safety is minister responsible for the department.
