Deoxycytidine triphosphate (dCTP) is a nucleoside triphosphate that contains the pyrimidine base cytosine. The triphosphate group contains high-energy phosphoanhydride bonds which liberate energy when hydrolized.DNA polymerase enzymes use this energy to incorporate deoxycytidine into a newly synthesized strand of DNA.
