Denis Gascoyne Hawker was the eighth Bishop of Grantham.Born on 8 February 1921 and educated at Addey and Stanhope School and Queens’ College Cambridge after World War II service with the Royal Marines he was ordained in 1951. His first post was as a curate at St Mary and St Eanswythe Folkestone after which he was Vicar of St Mark South Norwood.
