The Democratic Party (Italian: Partito Democratico PD) is a social-democratic political party in Italy. Along with the Five Star Movement and Forza Italia it is one of the three major parties in the country. The party’s leader is Matteo Renzi who replaced Guglielmo Epifani as national secretary in December 2013. The PD is the largest party both in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
