In enzymology a D-dopachrome decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.84) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionD-dopachrome 56-dihydroxyindole + CO2Hence this enzyme has one substrate D-dopachrome and two products 56-dihydroxyindole and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the carboxy-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is D-dopachrome carboxy-lyase (56-dihydroxyindole-forming).
