Cyclopentadienyl (systematically named 1λ3-cyclopenta-24-diene and cyclo-pentakis(hydridocarbon)(5 C—C)) is an organic compound with the chemical formula (CH)5 (also written [(CH)5] or C5H5). Cyclopentadienyl is closely related to cyclopentadiene. Cyclopentadienyl has five carbon atoms bonded together in a pentagonal planar ring all five of which are bonded to individual hydrogen atoms. Cyclopentadienyl is known in organometallic chemistry where it forms cyclopentadienyl complexes.
