The Coxcomb Mountains are located in Riverside County California where the higher Mojave Desert and lower elevation Colorado Desert region of the Sonoran Desert ecosystems and habitats meet. The Coxcomb range is within the eastern section of Joshua Tree National Park east of the Eagle Mountains north of Interstate 10 and southeast of the Sheep Hole Mountains and east of Twentynine Palms.
