Coleman Livingston Blease (October 8 1868 – January 19 1942) was a South Carolina politician who served as a Democratic state legislator 90th Governor of South Carolina and U.S. Senator.Blease was notorious for playing on the prejudices of poor whites. He was pro-lynching and anti-black education. And as Senator he advocated penalties for interracial couples attempting to get married as well as criticising First Lady Lou Hoover for inviting a black guest to tea at the White House.
