The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) is an Australian independent statutory authority responsible for administering legislation that will reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of clean energy. It is part of the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency is based in Sydney and began operations on 2 April 2012. The regulator was created after the passing of the Clean Energy Bill 2011.
