Clarithromycin (6-O-methyl erythromycin) is an antibiotic useful for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections. It is a macrolide antibiotic used particularly for respiratory infections (pharyngitis tonsillitis sinusitis acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease pneumonia ) skin infections and lyme disease.
