In enzymology a citrate (pro-3S)-lyase (EC 4.1.3.6) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactioncitrate acetate + oxaloacetateHence this enzyme has one substrate citrate and two products acetate and oxaloacetate. This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the oxo-acid-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is citrate oxaloacetate-lyase (forming acetate from the pro-S carboxymethyl group of citrate).
