In enzymology a citrate dehydratase (EC 4.2.1.4) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactioncitrate cis-aconitate + H2OHence this enzyme has one substrate citrate and two products cis-aconitate and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the hydro-lyases which cleave carbon-oxygen bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is citrate hydro-lyase (cis-aconitate-forming). This enzyme is also called citrate hydro-lyase.
