In enzymology a chondroitin B lyase (EC 4.2.2.19) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionEliminative cleavage of dermatan sulfate containing 14-beta-D-hexosaminyl and 13-beta-D-glucurosonyl or 13-alpha-L-iduronosyl linkages to disaccharides containing 4-deoxy-beta-D-gluc-4-enuronosyl groups to yield a 45-unsaturated dermatan-sulfate disaccharide (deltaUA-GalNAc-4S).This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically those carbon-oxygen lyases acting on polysaccharides.
