Chinese people in Germany form one of the smaller and less-studied groups of overseas Chinese in Europe. 2005 figures from Germany’s Federal Statistical Office showed 71639 People’s Republic of China nationals living in Germany making them the second-largest group of immigrants from Asia. Of those only 3142 or 4.3% were born in Germany far below the average of 20% for all non-citizens.
