Chain Reaction is a 1991 American peace monument and public art sculpture created by editorial cartoonist Paul Conrad (1924–2010) in Santa Monica California. The sculpture weighs 5.5-tons and takes the form of an 8-meter (26-foot) high mushroom cloud created by a nuclear explosion. Composed of copper chain links the sculpture is built on a metal framework of stainless steel and fiberglass surrounded by concrete.
