Cataloochee is a ski area located near Maggie Valley North Carolina. The area has fourteen ski slopes and trails. Approximately 25% of the slopes are rated beginner 50% intermediate and 25% advanced. With a top elevation of 5400 feet (1600 m) Cataloochee has a maximum vertical drop of 740 feet (230 m). The slopes are accessed by four chair lifts and two carpet lifts. Typical of North Carolina ski areas Cataloochee relies primarily on man-made snow for its slopes.
