Candidatus Arthromitus is a group of morphologically distinct bacteria found almost exclusively in terrestrial arthropods. They were first discovered in the guts of insects by Joseph Leidy. Despite their morphological similarity to Candidatus Savagella they form a distinct lineage within the Lachnospiraceae.
