Canada competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin Italy with a team of 196 athletes and 220 support staff.As host of the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics Canada was pressured to do well at the 2006 Games. The Canadian Olympic Committee’s goal for 2006 was to have a top three finish in the medal count or 25 total medals as a start to reach their goal of having the highest medal count at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver British Columbia.
